The Regional Rollingstock team based at the Portsmith Depot in Cairns has an exciting fixed term opportunity until 18.09.2026 for a suitably experienced Site & Inventory Support Officer to join the team.
About the role
The role provides essential inventory management, administrative assistance, and general depot support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Working closely with the Depot Material Co-ordinator and Manager Travel & Tourism Maintenance Portsmith, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating fuel and material logistics, and delivering high-quality administrative services using our systems and tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support inventory management by maintaining data, storage, control, and recording systems (e.g., SAP) for depot materials.
- Use SAP to order and receipt materials, conduct stocktakes, and manage inventory levels.
- Coordinate ordering, receiving, and reconciliation of bulk fuel for the Portsmith Bulk Fuel Facility.
- Manage onsite dispatch and deliveries, and arrange offsite pickups for trade staff.
- Provide administrative support including SAP payroll, invoice processing, and general office duties.
- Provide contractor management support, assist in oversight of facility compliance databases.
About you:
You’re a skilled administrator with strong communication and organisational abilities. You’re confident using systems like SAP and can manage inventory and office tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Your proactive approach and attention to detail help keep depot operations running smoothly.
You will bring:
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Proven experience in administrative procedures and practices
- Proficiency in SAP and other PC/mainframe applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A flexible, team-oriented approach to operational support

Hours and Salary
This is a Monday- Friday full-time position. You will be required to work 38hours across the week and enjoy a half day on Fridays. The role offers a starting salary of $74,300 plus 12.75% superannuation.
