  • 9 day fortnight - Mon-Fri, Mon-Thurs (3 day wkd every fortnight)
  • Base salary between $85,121 - $105,805 + penalties + generous allowances + 12.75% super (dependant on quals & experience)

About the team

 

Based at our Portsmith depot in Cairns, you’ll be part of a dedicated and collaborative team of technicians, electricians, and mechanical staff. In this role, you’ll have the unique opportunity to service and maintain the heritage-listed Kuranda Scenic Railway, a significant part of Queensland’s transport history. Our close-knit team works together to ensure the safe and efficient operation of both freight and passenger rail services. You’ll also have the chance to travel along the picturesque routes from Normanton to Cardwell, contributing to the reliability and performance of our network. 

 

About the role 

 

 We’re currently seeking a Telecommunications Technician to join our team. In this dynamic role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications and electronic systems.

 

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in radio systems, transmission technologies, and remote monitoring equipment. If you're looking to expand your skills in a varied field environment, while also benefiting from on-call allowances and overtime, this role could be a perfect fit.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications and electronic equipment

 

  • Keeping accurate records and maintenance documentation

 

  • Reporting on work completed against scheduled maintenance plans

 

  • Ensuring all tasks are performed in line with Workplace Health & Safety standards

 

  • Meeting technical and operational specifications in all work performed

 

About you

 

 To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

 

  • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems

 

  • A valid Driver’s Licence

 

  • An Electronics Trade Certificate (or equivalent qualification in electronics)

 

  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout regional Queensland

 

  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, as required
