About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Systems Maintainer to join our Regional Assets North, Operational Services team based at our Cloncurry depot.

As a Trainee Systems Maintainer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of Queensland Rail’s mechanical signalling equipment. Based within a skilled, multidisciplinary signalling team, you’ll support a broad region stretching from Townsville to St Lawrence, and as far north as Cairns and Kuranda.

In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for:

• Installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical signalling equipment

• Assisting with maintenance and repair of standby generator plants

• Ensuring all work is carried out in line with WH&S standards

• Accurately completing administrative and record-keeping tasks

• Contributing to the improvement of existing work procedures and practices

• Reporting on completed tasks against scheduled maintenance plans

About You

We’re looking for a reliable, safety-focused individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys being part of a supportive team. To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• A current manual driver’s licence

• A strong mechanical aptitude

• The ability to work independently and collaboratively

• A demonstrated commitment to safety and quality

• Flexibility to travel across regional Queensland as needed

• Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required
