Your Opportunity
Queensland Rail is seeking a Manager Building Maintenance to lead the safety, performance and reliability of building assets across the SEQ network,
In this role, you will oversee the delivery of maintenance, renewals, refurbishments, and minor capital works, ensuring assets remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. You will act as the technical authority for building maintenance, providing expert advice and leading complex, multi‑site programs that support safe and reliable rail operations.
This is a key leadership role with accountability for operational outcomes, risk management, and delivering value-for-money solutions across a large and diverse asset portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead safe, compliant, and reliable operation of SEQ building assets, ensuring service continuity and public access.
- Ensure all statutory, regulatory, and building code requirements are met, including occupancy certification and asbestos management.
- Act as the technical authority for building maintenance, providing expert advice and determining risk-based solutions.
- Deliver end‑to‑end maintenance, renewals, refurbishments, and minor capital works in line with approved standards.
- Oversee complex, multi‑site projects, coordinating trades and contractors while managing safety, cost, schedule, quality, and risk.
- Translate asset management plans into practical maintenance programs that balance safety, condition, and cost.
- Provide technical assurance, including incident investigations, audits, risk escalation, and corrective actions.
- Manage budgets, procurement, and contractor performance to achieve value-for-money outcomes.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, driving accountability and a strong safety-first culture.
- Represent SEQ Facilities, making delegated decisions and presenting advice and outcomes to stakeholders.
About you:
- Trade-qualified builder/carpenter with construction and maintenance experience
- Proven ability to lead safe, compliant operations in regulated environments
- Strong understanding of building compliance (legislation, codes, asbestos, occupancy)
- Experience delivering complex, multi-site maintenance programs end-to-end
- Expertise in maintenance practices and defect management, with sound technical judgement
- Ability to translate asset strategies into practical, cost-effective maintenance plans
- Strong financial and commercial capability (budgeting, procurement, contractor management)
- Proven leader of multidisciplinary teams, driving accountability and a safety-first culture
