Your opportunity
As a Station Assistant (Rotational), you’ll be at the heart of daily operations across Cairns, Freshwater and Kuranda Stations. From delivering standout customer service to maintaining station presentation, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming experience for every customer.
You’ll join a supportive station team of eight (including three rotational colleagues) and work closely with our on board teams of around 18 colleagues.
This is a permanent full-time position.

Purpose that Counts. As a Station Assistant (Rotational) some of your duties will include:
• Maintaining station presentation through general cleaning and upkeep of facilities, amenities and gardens
• Supporting luggage check-in and loading operations, including assisting with prams, wheelchairs, luggage and boxes
• Making platform announcements and actively managing platform operations
• Delivering friendly, professional customer service t travellers and the local community
• Operating station machinery and equipment
• Identifying and reporting safety concerns to the Station Master or Operations Coordinator
• Perform Signal Cabin Duties at Kuranda Station (from time to time, or as required)
Roser/Hours
This is a full-time role working 7.6 hour shifts across operating hours of 05:15 to 20:06. The roster includes varied start and finish times, including weekends and public holidays, so flexibility is required in this position.
We are seeking to connect with someone who ideally will have:
• The ability to work autonomously but also within a team environment.
• Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
• Sound computer skills.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to go the ‘extra mile’.
• A safety conscious attitude.
• Resilience and ability to self-motivate.
• Ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including cleaning, performing signal cabin duties (Kuranda Station only) and the lifting of heavy luggage up to 20 kilograms.
• Previous experience with cleaning, gardening or shift work is highly desirable
