About the Role – Make Safety Your Purpose that Counts

We have multiple opportunities for Protection Officers to join our SafeWorking and Incident Response team in Brisbane. Whether you’re looking for a career change or a role with real impact, we’ll provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to set you up for success.

 

As a Protection Officer, you’ll play a critical role in keeping our rail network safe by managing site access and implementing safety protocols. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up SafeWorking protection and managing access to rail sites
  • Completing essential documentation for allocated sites
  • Working both independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Operating across South East Queensland—from Varsity Lakes to Gympie

 

Please note: Our initial 6-week training program is essential for your success, so leave during this period is unavailable.

As a Protection Officer, in your day-to-day operations you will:

  • Support a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with Queensland Rail Standards and other Safety Legislation is maintained
  • Plan and implement track authority for work groups accessing the corridor
  • Physical implementation of infield safety equipment ensuring compliance with processes and procedures
  • Create and develop SafeWorking protection plans, detailed work plans and relevant documentation
  • Provide confident, supportive direction to staff at worksites on or near the track
  • Deliver effective safety briefings on worksites with multiple stakeholders
  • Be a source of information and knowledge to assist work groups with important updates

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and priorities effectively
  • Intermediate computer skills and familiarity with safety systems
  • Physical capacity for track walks (up to 8 km) and handling equipment (up to 20 kg)
  • A genuine interest in safety and supporting a strong safety culture
