Your Opportunity:

 

Our SafeWorking and Incident Response team have multiple opportunities for Protection Officers based in Brisbane.  Whether you are exploring a career change or seeking new purpose in a hands-on role, well provide all the training and support you need to success.  You’ll play an essential part in creating safe workspaces by managing rail site access and implementing safety protocols:

 

  • In this role, you will play a key part in creating a safe and well-organised work environment by setting up SafeWorking protection and managing access to rail sites
  • Working both independently and as part of a supportive team, you will complete essential documentation for your allocated sites
  • You may be based on or near the track across southeast Queensland ranging from Varsity Lakes to Gympie

 

Our initial 6 week training period is vital for your success, and as such, leave during this time is unavailable.

As a Protection Officer, in your day-to-day operations you will:

 

  • Support a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with Queensland Rail Standards and other Safety Legislation is maintained
  • Plan and implement track authority for work groups accessing the corridor
  • Physical implementation of infield safety equipment ensuring compliance with processes and procedures
  • Create and develop SafeWorking protection plans, detailed work plans and relevant documentation
  • Provide confident, supportive direction to staff at worksites on or near the track
  • Deliver effective safety briefings on worksites with multiple stakeholders
  • Be a source of information and knowledge to assist work groups with important updates

This Role will be ideal for people with:

 

  • Experience working collaboratively with other teams and leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines effectively, aligning projects and tasks to business requirements and priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish and develop working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Intermediate computer skills and navigation around safety systems
  • Physical capacity to perform track walks up to 8 kilometres and use safety equipment up to 20kgs in weight
  • A keen interest in safety and supporting a safety culture
