About the role
Queensland Rail is looking for an experienced Track Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Longreach.
In this role, you will supervise a team of four and will be responsible for managing the allocation and deployment of resources including personnel, vehicles, equipment and inventory. Your focus will be on delivering safe, cost-effective and timely track maintenance across the network. You will also coordinate road patrols and other track monitoring activities to ensure the short-term safety of train operations along the corridor.
This position involves regular travel throughout the region, working between Emerald and Winton, with the possibility of supporting other areas such as Rockhampton when needed.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate road patrols and track monitoring to ensure safety and compliance with Queensland Rail standards, including producing prioritised defect lists.
- Manage workgroup resources and activities to meet maintenance targets, conduct audits, respond to emergencies, and oversee speed restrictions.
- Plan and prepare daily, weekly and monthly work programs to ensure timely and cost-effective track maintenance with appropriate resource availability.
- Supervise and support the development, training and performance of a team of four, ensuring competency and readiness to deliver required services.
- Promote safety and environmental compliance by encouraging safe practices, minimising risks, and ensuring adherence to relevant policies and legislation.
Hours and salary
The starting base salary for this position is $ 101,285 plus 12.75% super. Working the current 9-day fortnight (78 hours) you can expect to earn over $110,000 annually.
About you
- Based in the local area and have the capacity to travel and work throughout regional Queensland
- Strong knowledge of track construction, maintenance and inspection standards, along with an understanding of associated systems and costs.
- Proven skills in planning, prioritising and managing resources to deliver effective track maintenance programs.
- Confident leader with excellent communication and people management abilities, capable of guiding and motivating a team.
