Based in Mareeba, our Structures Maintenance team is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Bridgeworker to join them in a full time, permanent position.
About the team
This role within our tight-knit team based in the Tablelands is responsible for maintaining rail structures from Mareeba down to Forsyth and out to Normanton.
This role includes a large amount of travel throughout the region with the team and will enable you to explore and work in remote parts of Far North Queensland.
Key focuses
- Hybrid role consisting of truck driving/machinery operating and bridgeworker duties
- Working on an 8/6 roster in remote North Queensland
- Contribute to the work output of the team by carrying out duties in a responsible manner in accordance with competency allocations
- Working on timber and steel at heights in all weather conditions
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Safety Management System
- Ensure safe working practices are adhered to and relevant work standards are met in accordance with Queensland Rail's policies, procedures and legislative requirements
- Participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to the development of new work practices
About you
- To be successful in progressing you MUST hold a current manual C Class Drivers licence
- A hard working nature and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- You must have a strong commitment to safety – your safety and the safety of those around you
- Recent experience in a manual handling or physical role, within a fast paced operational environment
- This role involves an extensive amount of travel, so having the flexibility to travel throughout the regions is required
- Knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools (machinery experience advantageous however not mandatory)
- Working at heights ticket is advantageous however also not mandatory
Hours and salary
The structures team work on a 76-hour fortnight working 8 days on 6 days off. The starting salary range on offer for this role is $66,149 + super + penalties + living away from home allowance (when working away). Working on the current roster you can expect to earn over $90,000 annually.
