Kickstart or continue your career as an Apprentice Electrician in Signals and Substations with Queensland Rail, based at our Maryborough depot.
In this hands-on role, you will work alongside qualified electricians to gain practical experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of essential railway infrastructure. You will be exposed to both signalling and substation systems, developing a broad skill set that supports the safe and reliable operation of our network.
As part of the Central Systems team, you will contribute to real-world projects and gain experience across the region. This role includes regular travel, giving you the opportunity to explore Queensland while advancing your career.

Our Apprentice Opportunity
In this apprenticeship you will
- Work under supervision of a qualified electrician to learn the installation, maintenance and repair of railway systems.
- Learn from experienced professionals to gain theoretical and practical knowledge
- Install, repair, inspect and test signalling equipment.
- Experience diverse work environments
- Collaborate with other teams across Queensland Rail.
- Undertake all the relevant training required to ensure you will be trade ready at the completion of your apprenticeship.
As an Apprentice you will need to:
- Be a team player
- Have an adaptable growth mindset willing to embrace the opportunity in front of you
- Be willing to travel across the state and work away from home
- Have the ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions with a commitment to safety.
- Be available for regular travel as a key part of the role
