Your Opportunity
Queensland Rail is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Rail Management Centre and Operations team as an Operations Planner based at our Rail Management Centre in Bowen Hills. This is a temporary full-time position until 31st of December 2026.
As an Operations Planner, you will take the lead in coordinating essential rail activities across Queensland Rail. This includes preparing plans for test train, tuition trains, maintenance vehicle movements, track machines and track closures/overhead isolations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange daily train scheduling and preparation of Train Notices for track machines, possessions, isolations and work trains (including Rail Traffic Crew workings).
- Liaise with Network Assets to prepare work programs for track machines ensuring maximum productivity with a minimum disruption.
- Ensure the efficient use of economic allocation of resources internally and externally.
- Input & extract data from various internal IT systems.
- Ensure a quality service is provided to Queensland Rail customers by liaising stakeholders as directed to ensure efficient on time train performance and fit for purpose plans.
- Provide relief as required to meet operational requirements.
About you:
- Have a good understanding of interpreting standards and diagrams, and resource allocation
- Previous experience with planning, analytics and problem solving
- Have an interest in Queensland Rail signalling and overhead traction system
- Demonstrated strong communication, computer and customer service skills
- You will need to have an eye for detail and accuracy.
- You will be resourceful and efficient when allocating resources both internally and externally and have the ability to identify problems.
