Queensland Rail’s Specialist Rollingstock Project Engineering team is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong technical rolling stock knowledge and experience.
The team provides technical support, advice and management of rolling stock projects being completed by external providers, primarily within design modifications and/or overhauls of our existing rolling stock fleet, to ensure when modifications/overhauls are completed, they are reviewed, implemented, and tested to ensure all works meet Queensland Rail’s safety and technical standards.
- Permanent full-time
- Brisbane inner city location - with some Queensland regional travel to site requirements.
- Annual base salary – ranges from $143,800 - $153,880 + 12.75% Superannuation, commensurate of candidate’s experience

About the opportunity
- Provide technical coordination and advice, review design and overhaul documentation, seek out responses from subject matter experts, and provide responses to technical tasks.
- Take lead over the various scopes of work to ensure that all the electrical engineering requirements are captured and implemented.
- Perform testing and analysis and acceptance testing after modifications are completed and assist contractors with commissioning activities.
- Conduct quality audits in accordance with current standards.
- Liaise with the rollingstock engineering teams, trade staff, inventory, suppliers, and other Queensland Rail stakeholders to identify and resolve rolling stock issues.
- Develop scopes of work, instructions, procedures, overhaul schedules and other documentation in relation to rolling stock modifications, overhauls, maintenance, and associated equipment.
- Manage and monitor projects for safety, reliability, and cost improvement in relation to rolling stock modifications, upgrades, repairs, and general maintenance.
What you’ll bring
- Strong electrical engineering technical knowledge within design, overhaul and modification/repair of rollingstock.
- High level of skill in the development of Scopes of Work and associated project documentation.
- Experience within an electrical engineering role, performing work that involves managing projects, technical investigations, testing, problem solving, overhauls, and modifications.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to clearly communicate both in written and oral forms and translate technical terms to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders who are responsible for differing stages of rolling stock modification/overhaul projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Applicants with international qualifications must have their qualifications assessed by Engineers Australia).
- Current, unrestricted Driver’s Licence.
