We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Rollingstock Project Engineering team.

 

About the team

 

Our team provides technical advice, guidance, management and oversight across rolling stock projects, supporting the introduction, operation, modification and maintenance of rolling stock and associated equipment. We work closely with engineering teams, technical specialists and key stakeholders across the business to deliver safe and reliable rolling stock outcomes.

 

About the role

 

  • Bowen Hills (inner Brisbane) location
  • Permanent, full-time

 

In this role, you’ll provide specialist technical advice and lead the mechanical engineering activities across a range of overhaul and modification projects. This includes working through design, overhaul, modification, testing and commissioning phases, including but not limited to:

 

  • Providing technical advice, coordinating responses, and reviewing project documentation
  • Leading mechanical engineering aspects of projects, ensuring requirements are clearly defined and delivered
  • Supporting testing, analysis and acceptance of rolling stock following modifications and overhauls
  • Collaborating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle from concept to closeout
  • Undertaking quality audits in line with current standards
  • Working closely with technical trade teams to identify and resolve rolling stock issues

 

This role is primarily based in Brisbane, with occasional travel to regional QLD or other SEQ sites as required.

 

You’ll bring 

 

Around 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within rolling stock or a similar engineering environment, along with:

 

  • Strong technical knowledge in the operation, maintenance, overhaul and modification of rolling stock or similar heavy vehicles/equipment
  • Experience in developing scopes of work and supporting project documentation
  • A background in delivering engineering work involving investigations, testing, analysis and problem-solving
  • Experience in supporting rolling stock reliability and performance improvements through maintenance, modification or engineering solutions
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and translate technical information clearly to different audiences
  • Proven ability to work across multiple stakeholders involved in different stages of projects
  • A current unrestricted Drivers Licence 

 

Formal Qualification

 

Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) recognised by Engineers Australia, or Queensland Rail approved equivalent

  • Annual base salary commencing at $143,800, in line with experience
