Queensland Rail are currently working on a vast range of infrastructure projects across our business, this is an exciting time to join with great opportunities like this becoming available.
We are looking for a Survey Assistant to support our Qualified Surveyors undertake survey work within track & civil, providing quality, safe and customer focused engineering solutions across our rail network.
The team typically work a 9 day fortnight, 06:30 to 15:30, weekdays. Occasional rostered weekend work will also apply with overtime payments as per our current enterprise agreements.
Whilst majority of the work is within our Southeast Queensland rail network, there may also be requirements to travel to our Queensland regional sites.
As this role has field-based requirements, you can also expect that you will be exposed to outdoor conditions, standing and walking for long periods of time around sites, with equipment required to perform the role.
Overview of responsibilities

Carry out accurate measuring, data recording and ground marking tasks under the direction of the Senior Surveyors/Engineering Surveyors.

Preparation for workday activities by restocking and general maintenance of field equipment and survey vehicles.

Ensure workspace and workshop cleanliness.

Perform Protection Officer duties on site to ensure safe work environment.

Perform to health, safety and environmental requirements.
About you
-
Construction/rail or project construction background performing similar Assistant Surveying tasks.

Rail Protection Officer (PO) knowledge/qualification would be advantageous but not required at the time of application as PO course eligibility will be determined through the recruitment process.

Sound level of maintenance and minor repair of equipment.

Ability to work within a team, collaborative and supportive approach to deliver on requirements using strong initiative.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
