Your Opportunity:
We are looking for a Train Monitoring Officer to join our Reliability Team based in our Mayne (Bowen Hills) office. This is a temporary fixed term full-time position until October 2025 which is responsible for monitoring, recording and reporting on the operational performance of all City Network and Airtrain services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience to support career progression in SEQ Operations.
In this role you will be required to undertake shift work, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a rotational roster. You will work as part of a small team on the control floor at Rail Management Centre (RMC) responsible for monitoring and reporting changes to train running in SEQ. You will need to work well under pressure, be confident with systems and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
About the role
- Monitor the daily operational performance of all City Network and Airtrain Services utilising current Queensland Rail electronic Train Monitoring Systems (ITOPS and Vizirail) in accordance with Queensland Rail’s business requirements, the TransLink Transport Service contract, the Transport and Main Roads contact and the Airtrain Agreement
- Investigate, record and report schedule variances to all City Network and Airtrain Services
- Compile, collate, edit and summarise incident reports using approved Queensland Rail electronic databases (Vizirail) and distribute to management requirements
- Maintain and update Electronic Train Monitoring Systems with all day of operation service alterations, ensuring correct scheduling protocols and business rules are applied in accordance with contractual requirements
- Assist Operations Management in responding to performance based information requests, by co-ordinating the maintenance and retrievals of records
- Liaise with Train Controllers, Assistant Train Controllers, Management and other Operations floor staff to ensure timely updating of train service performance with particular emphasis to on time running and contractual compliance
- Read and interpret train notices with particular attention to timetable changes, special event advice and isolation and closure impacts
About you
- High level of skill in interpreting and categorizing information and report writing
- High level of skill in operating independently with minimal supervision in a high pressure team environment
- High level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
- High interpersonal, communication, consultation and presentation skills
- Substantial skill in the use of computer systems particularly applications associated with standard Queensland Rail Environment. Experience using ITOPS and ViziRail is advantageous.
- Substantial knowledge of train operations and movements in a high density traffic environment
- Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail’s Values and Behaviours
