About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a Yard Supervisor to join our RMC and Operations team at our Bowen Hills office in a permanent fulltime position.
As a Yard Supervisor, you will Lead the operation of yards activities across Queensland Rail's SEQ yards ensuring supervision and stakeholder management of employees and equipment, Third Party Operators and external contractors.
Role overview:
- Participate in daily and scheduled meetings with key stakeholders, to discuss impacts to the Master Train Plan (MTP) and ensure alignment with changes in rollingstock schedules.
- Develop strategic plans for yard operations, closures, and maintenance, ensuring minimal disruptions to rollingstock movements.
- Assess long-term impacts on SEQ Yards and align plans with network-wide operations.
- Inspect the yard and out-depots to identify and rectify hazards, ensuring the site remains safe and compliant.
- Conduct yard counts to ensure rollingstock is correctly stabled and allocated across the SEQ Yards.
- Develop and facilitate site plans and risk assessments for yard operations
- Oversee the New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) yards
- Act as a facilitator for injury investigations, ensuring incidents are properly documented, assessed, and resolved.
- Manage the team including overseeing rostering, assignments, and performance management.
- Lead and contribute to performance improvement projects to enhance yard efficiency, safety, and stakeholder collaboration.
What you’ll bring:
- High level of skill in supervising others in the implementation of operational plans within a rail environment.
- Extensive knowledge of rail operations functions and safe working as relevant to yards operations and rail generally.
- High level of skill in problem solving and decision making relevant to resolving issues within the SEQ rail network and yards.
- High level of interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation and conflict resolution relevant to interacting with Queensland Rail, third party operators and external contracts.
- Substantial knowledge of yard operations.
The shortlisted candidates may be required to undertake Psychomotor Testing as well as meet the medical standards for a Category 2 health assessment.
