We are seeking to welcome an Officer in Charge to join our Gulflander team based in Normanton. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that delivers all aspects of the Gulflander tourism rail service including mechanic and train driver. This role will suit someone who has a Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering, who is looking for a unique change of scenery and who has a love of trains and connecting with others.

Purpose that counts. You’ll contribute towards a tomorrow that counts by:
- working with Queensland Rail’s Network Control Officer and driving the Gulflander on scheduled and chartered services.
- servicing and maintenance of the Gulflander railmotor and other rollingstock to meet rail safety compliance.
- maintaining all station facilities, gardens and equipment at Normanton and Croydon.
- completing manual handling duties.
- engaging with external stakeholder regarding the maintenance and repair of track infrastructure.
- providing a high level of customer service by connective with travelling customers, responding to phone enquiries, local community and stakeholders.
- delivering onboard commentary during the services on the fauna, flora, local area and history.
- supervising and guiding staff.
People who count. We are looking to connect with a person who:
- is adaptable and has a positive attitude and energetic approach who thrives in an environment where each day is different.
- has a high level of skill in mechanical maintenance and repairs. Previous experience with railmotors and rollingstock is highly desirable
- demonstrates an exceptional customer service skills and communication skills
- has the ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including lifting up to 20 kilograms
- holds a National ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence – required

must possess a current Engineering Tradesperson (Mechanical) or equivalent qualification
This is a permanent full-time opportunity between the hours of 0700 and 1530 Monday to Friday. There will also be a requirement to work weekends, public holidays and overnights in Croydon as required.
