About the opportunity

We are seeking a permanent full-time Operations Support Officer to join our team based at the Rockhampton Train Station.

As the Operations Support Officer you will work in a large team where you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of our Onboard Services by providing administrative and operational support to the Operations Coordinator. 

 

Due to the 24/7 nature of the operation, you will be required to work across a 4-week rotating roster which will include early starts, late finishes, overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays.

As an Operations Support Officer some of your duties will include:

  • General administrative tasks including meeting the trains on arrival to sign in / sign out radios and drop off / collect paperwork, platform allocations, maintenance of weekly operations rosters and any other adhoc administrative tasks
  • Oversee the provisioning and unloading of food and beverage supplies on long-distance passenger trains. You will ensure all items are inspected and are compliant with food hygiene regulations
  • Supervise On Board Services staff, provide trip reports and arrange for replacement staff when necessary
  • Enter financial data, prepare reports including reconciling variances and assist with / credit card handling procedures

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position which generally works between the hours of 0300 to 2400 as well as weekends and public holidays, so flexibility is required in this position. 

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Resilience and adaptability, thriving in fast-paced environments

  • Previous experience in a similar administration support role
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • An exceptional customer focused attitude to ensure a positive experience for our customers
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to engage with staff across departments, on-call managers, and other key contacts
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Proficiency in using computers and the Microsoft Office Suite including Excel (basic formulas)
  • A strong commitment to safety and a focus on detail
