About the Role
As the Operations Support Officer you will play an integral role in keeping our long-distance services running smoothly. You’ll support the Operations Coordinator and onboard team with operational coordination, operational roster management support and general administrative support.
You’ll operate with a high level of autonomy, ensuring day-to-day activities run efficiently and safely.
This is a permanent full-time position based at the Rockhampton Station.

Purpose that Counts. As an Operations Support Officer some of your duties will include:
• Providing administrative support to the Operations Co-ordinator, including meeting trains and assisting with rosters
• Managing day-to-day depot operations such as platform allocations and train movements
• Coordinating the supply and unloading of food and beverages for long-distance trains
• Ensuring food safety, quality, and dietary requirements are met
• Supervising staff, completing trip reports, and organising replacement staff when needed
• Preparing reports and correspondence using office systems
• Processing financial data in SAP and Point of Sale (POS) systems, including reconciliations and credit card handling procedures
• Assisting with roster preparation and updates
• Supporting safety and wellbeing in line with Queensland Rail standards

Hours / Roster:
It is a 24x7 operation where you will be required to work a rotating roster which will include early starts, late finishes, overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays. Flexibility with hours is crucial in this role.
We are looking to connect with someone who has:
• Previous experience in a similar administrative support role
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced and agile environment
• Proficiency in computer systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Outlook, Word, Microsoft Excel (basic reports and formulas)
• A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
• Basic experience in cash / credit card handling and accounting
• A strong focus on safety
• Knowledge of food safety and catering (HACCP) highly regarded
• Understanding of rail operations is highly regarded
