Your opportunity

This is a permanent full time position that is based in the kitchen at the Rockhampton Train Station. As the Senior Catering Attendant, you will play an integral role in providing a high-quality catering service for our customers on board our Tilt Trains (Rockhampton to Brisbane and Brisbane to Rockhampton). 


You will join a supportive and small team which is comprised of you and one other Senior Catering Attendant who are primarily responsible for preparing the sandwiches, salads and snack packs. At times you may be required to work autonomously without the other Senior Catering Attendant on shift with you.

 

Purpose that Counts

You will play an important role in providing food to our onboard customers and when you are assisting with tea and coffee service you will often be the first point of interaction that our customers have with someone from Queensland Rail.

  • Creation of a selection of sandwiches for purchase onboard
  • Complete salad preparation
  • Prepare staff breakfasts and providing a tea and coffee service to our customers on the morning service prior to boarding 
  • Undertake general cleaning duties
  • Complete general administrative duties with regards to Food Safety e.g. completing food safety paperwork such as temperature monitoring documentation
  • Provide a high quality of customer service
  • Order stock and identify suitable substitutes if stock is not available
  • Complete cash handling / credit card handling as required

Roser/Hours

This is a full-time position which works between the hours of 0:00 (midnight) to 10:00 which will include working every second weekend and some public holidays. Some travelling may be required.

 

About you

We are seeking to connect with a resilient and adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work both autonomously and within a team. In addition to this you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in delivering a high quality of customer service
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound cash management skills 
  • Excellent time management skill
  • A safety conscious attitude.
  • Relevant tourism, transport or hospitality industry experience is highly advantageous
  • A Food Hygiene certificate – highly desirable however not mandatory.
