About the Role:


We are looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join Queensland Rail’s Travel Centre based in Rockhampton.  

 

Our travel consultants provide high quality, friendly customer service. This role would suit someone with a passion for customer service and a genuine interest in helping people. You will be a quick thinker with an ability to work through problems and provide solutions. You will need to work autonomously in this role.


This is a fixed term, full-time position until July 2027.

Purpose That Counts. As a Travel Consultant, some of your duties will include: 


•    Provide accurate travel advice and complete reservations and ticketing for rail, third party and corporate travel. 
•    Process payments efficiently and ensure every interaction meets our quality assurance standards. 
•    Drive revenue by up selling travel products and encouraging return business. 
•    Maintain strong product and industry knowledge through ongoing training and familiarisation activities. 
•    Build positive relationships and maximise goodwill with both internal and external customers. 
•    Support Queensland Rail Travel operations by following all policies, procedures and safety requirements. 
•    Contribute to a collaborative Customer Contact team and assist with additional duties when required.

Roster/Hours


The Rockhampton Travel Centre operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 5:45am to 2:00pm during the week and 5:45am to 9:15am on the weekends. 


Shifts are 4-8.5hours in length. The shift times will vary from day to day depending on roster requirements. Majority of shifts are:


•    5:30am to 1:36pm
•    5:45am to 1:51pm
•    6:00am to 2:06pm
•    6:00am to 3:00pm 


You will also be required to work weekends (approximately one weekend every month) and may be required to travel for work. 


Flexibility is required in this position as hours are subject to change based on operational requirements (i.e. planned and unplanned disruptions). 


We are looking to connect with someone who ideally has: 


•    A passion for customer service excellence and a commitment to creating positive travel experiences. 
•    The ability to work within a diverse team in a fast-paced work environment. 
•    A positive, can-do attitude.
•    Strong communication skills (written and verbal) 
•    Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office skills e.g. Microsoft Office Suite. Previous experience using travel booking systems would be highly regarded but not essential. 
•    Previous tourism experience is desirable but not essential.
