Your opportunity
We are seeking a permanent full-time Station Assistant to join our team based in Roma Street.
As a Station Assistant you will report directly into the Operation Coordinator Brisbane where you will join a team of five Station Assistants to provide exceptional customer service, luggage check in and loading and general cleaning duties at platform 10 Roma Street Station. You will also work alongside onboard team members when they are assisting with platform duties.

As a Station Assistant some of your duties will include:
- Assisting with the de-provision and provision of supplies on train arrival and departure.
- Working with the team to manage luggage check in and loading procedures.
- General cleaning and maintenance duties of the station, bathroom facilities, baggage areas, the train and gardens.
- Providing platform announcements and active platform management
- Providing exceptional customer service to travelling customers and the local community – this includes assisting with customer luggage
- Operating station machinery and equipment.
- Reporting any safety concerns to the Operation Coordinator.
Hours
This is a permanent full-time position which generally works between the hours of 0800 and 1930. You can expect to be on a rotating roster which will include a variety of start and finish times as well as weekends and public holidays, so flexibility is required in this position.
We are seeking to connect with someone who ideally will have:
- The ability to work autonomously but also within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a customer focused attitude to ensure a positive experience with customers.
- Sound computer skills.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to go the ‘extra mile’.
- A safety conscious attitude.
- Resilience and ability to self-motivate.
- Ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including cleaning and lifting of heavy luggage up to 20 kilograms.
- Previous cleaning experience or admin experience (ticketing or booking of travel).
- Flexibility to travel when required (e.g. to Rockhampton for training)
