We have a permanent opportunity for a Mechanical/Diesel Fitter to join our Equipment Maintenance Services team in Toowoomba. This role is to ensure all Infrastructure, plant and equipment are maintained to required standards, to achieve optimum reliability and operational performance and to ensure customer objectives are achieved.


The successful candidate will be responsible for machine maintenance and servicing on all infrastructure machinery. The primary goals are to ensure safety within the team and infrastructure machinery are well maintained to maximise operational performance on track. The position will be based in Toowoomba but will require travel to Regional areas including Charleville, Goondiwindi and all Qld Rail depots in-between. This travel will include multiple overnight stays where accommodation and travel expenses are provided.  


Key responsibilities will include:
•    Carry out effective and efficient repair and preventative maintenance including scheduled maintenance and condition monitoring.
•    Practice effective troubleshooting methods to repair plant breakdowns, minimising downtime.
•    Manage effectively the development, implementation and monitoring of the requirements of the Queensland Rail Integrated management System Business and Divisional Instructions to control and minimise loss to people, property, processes and environment within their Section of Queensland Rail.
•    Prepare and provide plant maintenance documentation and reports in accordance with the Scheduled Assured Maintenance (SAM) System and as required by the Supervisor.
•    Participate in programs and training to ensure high performance levels through succession planning, staff appraisals, development and training to meet customer and business needs.


About you
•    High level of skill in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of rail maintenance specific plant and equipment to achieve planned outcomes and business objectives.
•    Substantial knowledge of concepts and application of preventative maintenance to improve reliability and availability.
•    Substantial level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to actively participate in an environment of teamwork, effective workplace and customer relationships.
•    Sound problem solving, analytical and quality improvement skills.


Mandatory requirements to be considered for this opportunity:
•    Engineering/ Trade Certificate/ Mechanical

•             Permanent opportunity with the starting base salary at $61,000 plus shift and travel penalties. Working the current roster on average including penalty rates a Plant Fitter can earn up to with progression of $100,000 plus superannuation.

This position works on a 9 day fortnight and does have the option to work on weekends when needed.
