Your opportunity.

Queensland Rail have an exciting permanent full time opportunity for a Cable Jointer to join our Regional Assets North team based at our Townsville depot. You’ll work as a team of three, in a wider team of 10, reporting to the Co-Ordinator Network Services. You’ll support a broad region stretching from Rockhampton to Cairns to Mt Isa.

 

Purpose that Counts. 

As a Cable Jointer, you’ll play a vital role in carrying out the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunications cables and cabling equipment and report on the performance and condition of the network asset to ensure its safe and effective operation. You will be responsible for conducting vital inspections and repairs of the communication infrastructure on poles and towers through out the network to ensure operational performance.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • National Australian Drivers Licence 
  • ACMA Open Cabler Registration 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • A demonstrated commitment to safety and quality
  • Flexibility to travel across regional Queensland as needed
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required
  • Working at heights qualification is highly desirable.

  • Starting salary of $84, 931 plus 12.75% superannuation + applicable allowances and overtime

Salary and hours

  • 9 day fortnight (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday)
  • 8.5 hour days, typically working 07:15 – 16:15
  • Working away as required. Typically 10 hour days are worked while working away.
  • Overtime available once fully trained
