About this role:
You’ll be based in Townsville and play a key role within the Regional Engineering team, which supports all regional business units across Queensland Rail. This broader scope means exposure to a wide range of engineering challenges, asset types, and geographies.
As a Civil Engineer, you'll work closely with Asset Managers, Track and Structures Inspectors, and other stakeholders to help improve the reliability, safety, and performance of our rail infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide professional civil engineering support across Queensland Rail’s regional network
- Develop and review asset management plans and strategies
- Certify civil engineering works and ensure compliance with relevant standards
- Conduct site inspections, travel regularly across regional Queensland, and undertake technical investigations
- Analyse infrastructure condition data and prepare detailed reports and recommendations
About You
You’re a problem-solver who enjoys variety and working both in the office and on-site. You’re comfortable travelling for work, capable of managing multiple priorities, and motivated to learn across multiple domains.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Bachelor of Engineering - Civil
- Strong civil engineering knowledge and experience in a technical or asset management role
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Willingness to travel regularly and conduct field inspections
- Strong data processing and analytical abilities, including:
- Experience with Power BI, Python, or similar tools (advantageous)
- Familiarity with SAP or other enterprise asset management systems (advantageous)
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-performing team
- A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
