About the role:
As a Senior Operations Coordinator (internally known as Senior Operations Interface Adviser), you will play an integral role in maximising operational and network efficiency across our Regional Network for our rail operators and infrastructure maintenance teams.
You’ll deliver solutions aligned with our safety management system and business directives, focusing on yard capacity management, stakeholder engagement, compliance and incident response.
This is a permanent full-time position based in Townsville. You will be required to work an on-call roster to support reactive events and emergency incidents/accidents which will include outside of hours, weekend work and travelling across regional Queensland to assist.

Purpose that Counts. A typical day as a Senior Operations Interface Adviser will consist of (but is not limited to):
• Review operator performance and implement solutions to address compliance, standards, capacity, commissioning and design issues
• Lead and support strategies that drive a performance-focused culture, including corridor initiatives, interfaces, leases and connection agreements
• Providing advice on all Conceptual Operating Plans
• Develop and deliver corridor performance initiatives through effective engagement with supply chain customers, stakeholders and adjoining landowners
• Act as QR Commander during major incidents, overseeing investigations, recovery planning, inductions, pre-starts, debriefs, reviews and representing the organisation in local and district disaster groups
• Undertake planning, capacity analysis and scheduling tasks as required
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders

About You
The Senior Operations Interface Adviser must have extensive safeworking experience and knowledge of train operations or rail infrastructure. In addition to this, you will have:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for implementing short- and long-term solutions
• Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, consultation and conflict resolution skills
• Proficiency in information technology (IT) systems for monitoring, recording and reporting systems
