 About the role



We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Systems Maintainer to join the team in Townsville.


In this role you will be required  to lead Operational Services personnel in the on-site installation, maintenance and repair of Trackside Systems equipment and leading the safety of operations, work outputs of the team and the quality of works performed and ensuring the safe and effective operation of the rail network.

 Some of your day to day responsibilities include:



  • Lead the onsite installation, maintenance and repair of Trackside Systems equipment in accordance with predefined work programs to ensure the safe and effective operation of the rail network systems.
  • Implement, co-ordinate and manage worksite safe working protection, environmental protection in accordance with Queensland Rail Standards.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with technical and operational specifications and standards including work activities performed by subordinate employees.
  • Maintain all records and associated documentation relating to quality of works performed, Inspection and Test plans, and costing systems.
  • Report on actual work performed against the scheduled work program, and report any equipment performance and condition irregularities.
  • Progress the implementation and application of work procedures and practices in pursuit of ensuring continuous quality improvement.





To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must have the following:



  • Substantial knowledge of all types of mechanical signalling equipment and their relevant maintenance and installation standards ,repair and maintenance of mechanical signalling equipment to predetermined standards and procedures.
  • Substantial skill in the supervision of staff and work activities.
  • Sound knowledge of the WH&S Act and relevant Queensland Rail safety policies and procedures.

Position description 


Full time annual starting salary range: $70,193 + Super with progression up to $83,564 + Super ( ET2.4 – ET3.2)



This exciting opportunity is permanent full-time and works across a 9 on 5 off roster, it will involve drive in drive out on the Mt Isa line with Townsville being the home station, you will also be responsible for Supervision of a Trainee as part of your role . The successful candidate must have high levels of flexibility to work and travel across the district and participate in an on-call roster as required.
