Your opportunity
We are seeking a permanent full-time Station Assistant to join our team in Townsville.
As a Station Assistant, you will join a team of seven to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation at Townsville Station. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, completing general cleaning duties and contributing to a positive and safe environment.

Purpose that Counts. As a Station Assistant some of your duties will include:
• Assisting with loading and unloading supplies at train arrival and departure
• General cleaning and maintenance duties of the station, bathroom facilities, baggage areas, the train and gardens.
• Making platform announcements and managing the platform
• Assisting customer and handling luggage
• Operating station machinery and equipment.
• Reporting any safety concerns
• Transporting Onboard staff to and from overnight accommodation

Roser/Hours
This is a full-time position which generally works between the hours of 0700 and 1606. You can expect to be on a roster which will include a variety of start and finish times as well as alternating weekends and public holidays, so flexibility is required in this position.
We are seeking to connect with someone who ideally will have:
• The ability to work independently and in a team
• Strong communication skills and a customer focused attitude
• Sound computer skills
• A strong work ethic and willingness to go the ‘extra mile’.
• A safety-focused mindset
• Resilience and ability to self-motivate.
• Ability to undertake a variety of manual handling tasks including cleaning and lifting up to 20 kilograms
• Previous cleaning experience is highly desirable
• The ability to travel within your position when required (e.g. for training)
• Hold a ‘C’ Class Drivers licence – highly desirable
