Footbridge Carpenters are responsible for the maintenance of Queensland Rail Facilities assets (depots, footbridges etc) to the standard which ensures safe and reliable operation such as to satisfy customers and legislative requirements.

- Base salary of $82,887 - $94,932 (depending on experience) plus shift penalties.

Overview of responsibilities:
Work around our stations and depots specifically with footbridges, this work is predominately steps, stairs, and timber post, handrail replacements, including formwork.
Proactively find and be assigned defect checklists to investigate and report back findings and recommendations on rectification to the Footbridge Maintenance Co-Ordinator. When confident to do so, you will prepare work and materials list for works and in a pair conduct the maintenance or installation.
What you will bring to the role:
- Must hold a certificate 3 in Carpentry.
- Must hold a manual C class driver licence.
- Have a customer focused approach is required as you will often be working in and around customers whom at times may be frustrated with the lack of usual access.
- We see related experience to be with formwork, post installation, steps, and decking. Solely carpentry framework experience either residential or commercial is not desired.
Hours and salary
- The team currently work 8.5-hour days, 0600 - 1500 with a 9 on 5 off roster.
- Starting from Tuesday to the following Wednesday.
- Rostered Days off from Thursday to Monday.
Example roster
- This roster is subject to change with business requirements. The current roster requires you to be available to work roughly 24 weekends a year.
- You will always start and finish at the depot, site travel is on paid work time. Uniform and tools are supplied.
- Approximately 20 hours of overtime per fortnight is available although this must be approved and comply with our fatigue management policy.
- Requirement to travel on occasion.
