Your Opportunity

The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) will deliver 65 new six-car passenger trains, built at a purpose‑built manufacturing facility in Torbanlea. The program is also delivery a maintenance facility at Ormeau to support the 65 new passenger trains. This new modern fleet will provide passengers with more efficient, reliable, and accessible travel across South East Queensland—supporting the region as it grows and prepares for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

 

We’re offering a 2‑year temporary full‑time opportunity for an experienced systems engineering professional to join the QTMP team as Senior Manager, Asset Integration & Augmentation.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will:

  • Lead and manage the safe, effective integration of QTMP assets into the Queensland Rail network.
  • Oversee and coordinate key functions including Testing & Deployment, Training, and Operational Readiness.
  • Provide strategic direction, technical expertise, and governance across all asset integration activities for this large-scale, complex rail project.

Your work will directly contribute to the success of one of Queensland’s most significant infrastructure programs, helping shape the future of rail for decades to come.

About you:

You will be a systems engineering professional with the technical depth and leadership capability to guide the integration of complex rail assets into an existing operational network.

You bring:

  • Extensive systems engineering experience within large‑scale, safety‑critical or complex rail projects.
  • Strong communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to “speak the language” of engineering while translating concepts for non‑technical audiences.
  • A solid understanding of the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and design through to testing, commissioning, and operational readiness.
  • Ability to integrate new assets into an existing operational environment, ensuring alignment with standards, safety requirements, and network constraints.
  • Proven capability in change leadership, particularly in preparing people, processes, and systems for operational readiness.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, combining technical credibility with the ability to lead, influence and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience managing teams and coordinating with external stakeholders, consultants, and project partners.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Bachelor level or higher desirable).
