Success as a Network Controller comes from a mix of transferable skills such as confidence, resilience, adaptability, remaining calm under pressure, clear communication skills and strong memory for recalling procedures.

These transferable skills may be gained from experience across a variety of industries including, but not limited to:

  • Emergency services
  • Army and Police
  • An industry requiring radio communication
  • Safety and Compliance
  • Control centre/room (e.g. Security/Corrections/Mining/Airlines)

 

Full support, training and development is provided to succeed in this role beginning with 6 months of paid train control school including.

 

Your opportunity

As a Network Control Officer, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our rail network running safely and smoothly. Using digital rail management systems and technology to ensure the safe and efficient separation of train services across the regional network. Your decisions help keep passengers and freight moving safely every day across 3680km of track, connecting communities and passengers across regional Queensland.

Training Program Overview

  • Journey commencement October 2025
  • This intensive program requires dedication and focus during the initial period where no leave outside of public holidays is allowed during the training period, finishing in April. (A short period of leave during Christmas/holiday period may be allowed on a case-by-case basis)
  • Blend of classroom instructions with simulated-learning, followed by practical on-the-job training
  • The opportunity to build a rewarding career with the successful completion of your 12-month training period and all training assessments to secure a permanent role within an exciting career

 

Please note there is limited flexibility within the roster. We encourage you to consider how this may impact your lifestyle and commitments before applying:

  • Available to work an ongoing, and unstructured 24/7 roster (with applicable penalty rates)
  • Roster includes weekends, nights, and public holidays
  • Shifts are 8 hours in length, with 76 hours worked over a fortnight, plus potential overtime.
